Q. What is altext.

A. Altext was created for accessibility
purposes. It is so folks can tag an
image.

Q. To be a good SEO person do you
need to be a good HTML person?
A. No, but it helps http://nvu.com

you are not.

Q. What about history, the length of time
the site has been up?
A. Not important

Q. What is the difference between external or Internal Anchor links?
A. The same. They are links that are coming
from outside your site that are linking your
site to theirs.
External anchor texts are the important part of the
picture when we are talking about links.

Q. My domain is http://localmarketingtucson.com.
Do I add keywords to each page of the
domain?
A. Yes

Q. What is the difference between Meta keywords and
keywords?
A. A meta keyword is a specific tag in a H1,H2 etc.
on your site and keywords are terms you are targetting
throughout the site.

Q. What is a meta description?
A. See above. Something that goes in the head of a HTML
document. It should be what the page is about.
when you go to the search engine and type in xyz and
the results come back you will see a sentence or
two. That is the meta tag.

Q. Can you hide one’s view page source to keep competitors
out of your site and seeing your keywords.
A. Yes but then the search engines can’t see you and
anyone can purchase software to find out what your
keywords are anyway.

Q. Can search engines tell the difference between
mysitehealthinsurance.com or do I need to add
a dash or underscore?
A. With common keywords the search engines are pretty good
at parsing out two words mashed together is not a problem.
However,best practice would be to use a hyphen.
But NOT a underscore.

Q. Since meta description should be advertising text
should it be unique.
A. Yes. They do make a difference around indexing.
In fact if you are going to have the same meta
description on every page you’d be better off
with no meta description.

Q. What happens if your content on your page does
change often.
A. Rank may not be affected but crawling does.

Q. Should you put your company name first or your keywords first.
A. Depends. If you are pushing brand put company name first.
If targeting keywords use keywords first.

Q. Since most URLs are company names should you
buy other URLs.
A. No if you’ve been around awhile and have a history
but if you it’s a new domain maybe you can try it.
However, multiple URLs do create problems for the
same content. So if you do this you have to build
link popularity to all those different domains and
that can become frustrating.

Q. If I am number one my company name can I lose that
position?
A. Very unlikely but unless your company name is
like “mountain bikes” or “outboard motors”
it doesn’t really matter to queries.

Q. Do links on your menu count as links on your
page.
A. Yes and those are those the ones you should
think about carefully.

Q. What is the difference between static and dynamic URLs.
A. A static URL is http://website.com/firststage/secondstage/etc.
a dynamic URL has ? mark in it http://www.dell.com/business?~ck=mn

Q. Should I use flash?
A. No

Q. What are Google.com links
A. If you perform a link:www.mysite.com command@google
you will see a number that is a sampling of the links
you’ve got.
