Twittter’s Location Feature for Local Business
Twitter has rolled out a geo-location feature. Finally. They’ve been promising since of November. Of course the first thing people started doing was cautioning folk not to tweet they were in Hawaii on vacation. Uh duh! So go to your twitter account and share your location info in the settings area. You will see a icon every time you tweet. When you click it a Google map will pop and display your location. Wow!
How is this going to help Tucson Small Business Owners? Any brick and mortar local business who is following the geographical tweets you could instantly invite them to your establishment. This is going to become common but right now realize that by you jumping on this you can be a leader and the people using twitter right now are demographically the ones with some money in their pockets. Plus it’s going to be a heck of story about your incredible customer service.
I am thinking there are some incredible applications especially for drivers and folks in skyscrapers and conventions. Please send your ideas and let’s brainstorm.
I have read a ton of other examples but most of them are pretty lame. For now I think the above example is the only really practical one. In time it will develop but for now just follow the tweets in your area. Just have the secretary have a lap top open as twitter is by far the easiest way to keep up in real time what is happening in your neck of the woods. Of course you’ll have to set up an account first and follow people in your area. Here is a post for Local Business owners who have put off setting up the basics of their Social Media world.
