Tucson:Have you missed the Boat on Web2.O
All this online marketing stuff is not rocket science. Believe me I’m not a rocket science and I got the hang of it in a few weeks. But boy oh boy it takes time. Lots of time. That’s the only bad news because if you hook up with the right folks the playing ground between the Goliath’s and the David’s has been eliminated to a point. And here’s why a nimble “Joe the plumber” can grab a good SEO and if they know what they are doing they should be able to show you results in your rankings in a couple weeks. Not SALES that’s your department Tucson small business owners but you should be excited to see your site rising to the top of Google.

Having said that – if you are a local Tucson business get this and listen up! Jump on this today because the slots in Google are going fast. People are catching on, there are more and more average people who know how the search engines work and how to get a business in the top 7 slots of Google and once a business is there and the right things are being done daily (and they need to be done daily if you are in a competitive niche) it can be almost impossible to displace their spot.
Costs of marketing online are dropping like a rock. And while it’s still a consideration speed, agility and TIME,TIME,TIME have taken over your placement and results on Google. For instance take a look at my site Local Marketing Tucson and ask yourself after clicking on blog how many hundreds of hours it took to write all that content and content is KING when promoting your site. If you are going to win with online marketing here in Tucson you have to be decisive, unafraid, and give away knowledge and create stunning content. Those that hold to these actions will win in this brave new world of marketing.

Before the revolution of leveling the mountains in the world of marketing only those with deep pockets could compete and when I watch T.V. I still shake my head in amazement and hope one day soon some of the money these folks are still pouring into commercials that nobody cares about will end up in Local Marketing Tucson’s coffers. But my secret (not anymore) is that I can help the local pest control company can put money into their pocket as opposed to
Terminix or Orkin. All these big boys get huge amounts of corporate welfare but the little guy just fades and goes away or at least used to until the advent of
the computer and then the internet and now web2.0. Now Suzie the seamstress, Dan the detailer, and Pam the pet walker can compete with the giants. People want to do business locally, an anti-chinese sentiment is brewing, frugality is hype and bartering is emerging as a viable way of business.
Brands still hold sway but now for a short time you have an opportunity to be BRAND YOU and get that all important asset: a loyal customer base that love your work and like YOU. With the coming of age inbound and social media marketing the ancient law Archimedes discovered in the 3rd century all the secrets you have developed in relational marketing can be leveraged and exponentially grown to heights you’ve never dreamed of and allow you to thrive in this time of economic stress.

From a hubspot article I quote, “In the wild of nature, many animals use spines, fur and feathers to create the optical illusion of size and ferocity. In the internet wild, small companies have so many new tools available to them to put a face forward that is professional and fierce. I was reminded of this during a weekend walk in my Austin neighborhood where a small colony of wild peacocks lives. An albino peacock thought I was a threat and went from petite to grandiose in a matter of seconds. That peacock brought to mind the concept of leverage and how the internet provides small businesses an amazing tool to leverage the assets they have to play with the big boys. Truly, as a small business with limited budget, what non-monetary assets do you have? What are the conceptual feathers you’ve got that can help you get more attention on the web?
- Agility and willingness to learn
- Industry specific know-how & skills
- Industry and local relationships
You’d be surprised at how much you can do with those assets.”
Here’s the bottom line big corporations are dinosaurs, shareholders, legalities, arrogance, corporate welfare, politics were assets but no more. Have faith and make a plan NOW Local Tucson Business in this very narrow window that is closing quickly and consult with a SEO and internet marketing company.
Listen, listen, listen to your customers, look at the news, watch the local trends. This is your strength. Here is where your knife can slice the belly of the dinosaur. The government is running out of money (diversify if your money is attached to any government). Go to your neighboring businesses and businesses within your niche that want to move forward and not be crushed in the coming financial turmoil that is upon us and plan and collaborate to take advantage of all that web2.0 has to offer you: FREE ONLINE T.V. , FREE ONLINE RADIO, FREE VIDEO AND on and on and on.
You can find the local pain points in Tucson Businesses because you are here not in some distant state. ruling them. Take for instance a landscaping business,
think about all the things that are LOCAL TUCSON : soil, seed, seasons, bugs, diseases just a few that come to mind. Do the same for your business now and
make a list and consult with a local SEO expert and get busy. Use your existing customer base to gain help you be DAZZZLING! Using a secret questionnaire that is attached to a discount at the point of sale is an effective mechanism and well worth the effort. Hubspot also states ” Start small and be the one to start that innovation; you might find others looking to you for advice as an entire generation grows up online and will expect every industry there in the future.”
Here’s the good news – YOU ARE NOT TOO LATE (I guess that depends on when you read this) because according to Marketing Sherpa less than 30% of business that are online are using social media marketing best practices. Make 2010 a banner year to embrace inbound marketing, drop your PPC and SEM expenses, use the yellow pages as a door stop, understand what DVR is, get the point that it’s hard to text, write or jot down the number on a radio ad without jeopardizing your fellow drivers shall I go on……………………….and embrace the expertise of a company like Local Marketing Tucson and make an affordable plan that will put you where you want to be in the new world of marketing.
Case Study: Orchestra LLC
Orchestra a tiny software company had been blogging, tweeting and quietly working away when a major player picked up one of their tweets and that’s when the fun started. And the point is???? Local marketing is a lot easier because just like big industry magazines are looking for content so are local broadcasters. They have to have a new story every day and they are using all the web2.o tools to find them. And as they say “you can’t win if you don’t play “.
Orchestra a software company by implementing inbound marketing techniques now has more than 20,000 YouTube views and 1,000+ content tweets on their twitter account.
They also have over 30,000 views on Ulitzer/SYSCON and 1,000+ content tweets.
Many large corporations can’t hold a candle to those stats AND that’s in less than a year.
Because of this Orchestra’s CEO is getting invites to:
Industry Events
Conferences
He gets to share with the jaw droppers how they used social media to be a “peacock” and what best practices are and how they have done so well. And, oh yeah expose the world to his now booming company and software. Seminar speakers have been doing this for 30 years (Wayne Dyer, Dale Carnegie) but with web2.0 and as stated you can copy cat for a little while longer and dominate your local market. By being a first mover, collaborating with the others in your area and by doing so be seen as the maven for your niche.
If done right by implementing the 5 puzzle pieces it can also be done very inexpensively. Someone in marketing must have run across a passage in the Bible in Mark 11:23 where Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him” Thank you for leveling the mountain for Local Tucson Businesses.

![Tucson:Have you missed the Boat on Web2.O Reblog this post [with Zemanta]](http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=875f02fd-05ca-4f19-9808-a8e80b3a447e)

WOW!!! And I mean it completely. Stated very well and completely accurate. Jake, I am a witness to every word you said. I spent thousands (I mean thousands) on finding the right word (or word phrase) to “rank” on Google.
That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done (as an adult of course). I got nowhere. You speak the truth that content is KING. Make it good, resourceful and valuable, to the reader. They will adopt, accept and approve of your effort and be attracted to you.
I knew nothing a year ago, just like you said. I committed the time and dug into learning about the internet and Web 2.0. Now it is my best small business friend and I could never do without it again, ever!
Thank you. I enjoy your blog and look forward to following you more.
